Any certified electrician should be able to undertake work in both commercial and residential settings. The main difference between the two is the scale of the work with commercial buildings (offices, retail units, factories etc) usually meaning larger circuits and bigger challenges.
As a result, for commercial properties it is important to look for an electrician with experience of undertaking large commercial projects rather than someone focused purely on residential properties. An extra consideration is also that commercial projects, due to their scale, are often better suited to a team of electricians.

The key regulation that relates to all Electrical works is ‘The Electricity at Work Regulations’, which can be accessed via www.hse.gov.uk.
Everyone has access to these documents, and you are perfectly within your rights to read these documents and inform HSE if you do not feel the building you are working in is safe.
As a general rule of thumb, we recommend a maximum of three years for commercial buildings, five to ten years for domestic dwellings and every year for industrial units and/or heavily used electrical installation systems. If you are not sure which category your building falls under, please don’t hesitate to call and we can advise accordingly – all testing is relative to your own building and usage.
We recommend that when you move into any property, whether this has been purchased or whether it is under a lease, one of the first things you should do is have all electrical installations and circuits tested. In the process of purchasing a building or signing a lease, it is perfectly acceptable to request an up-to-date electrical testing report to confirm electrical installations and circuits are satisfactory and safe. All systems must be tested to ensure your building complies with current BS7671 regulations.
The reason this is so important is that testing equipment can tell you whether a circuit has deteriorated, failed or is unsafe for users.
Without testing, you are increasing your risk of electrical hazards such as electric shocks, burns, overheating and/or even electrical fires.

Yes all our electricians are trained and qualified to current electrical wiring regulations – BS7671.
Our electricians regularly attend approved training courses to enhance their skills – these include the standard electrical regulations, Health & Safety and First Aid.
We also arrange for electricians to attend courses specialising in fire alarms, emergency lighting, security alarms, inspection and testing, local building authority warrants and PAT Testing.
On most occasions we are happy to provide you with a free, no obligation, estimate or quotation for any electrical work. We are also happy to respond and participate in the tender process of any electrical and mechanical installations.
There may be certain circumstances where this may not be the case, your locations or emergency fault finding, but this will always be advised and discussed in advance.
All electrical installations completed by LIKE Electrical will be tested and certificated on completion of works. Any project we complete will include a demonstration session with the users prior to handover, to ensure everyone is aware of how to use the projects efficiently and safely.
If we are asked to complete an inspection, we will produce a full report to advise of any concerns we have with the current electrical installation. This will also come with quotation for relevant works to rectify and make safe the building/area we have inspected.
You can always call LIKE Electrical if you are unsure or have a question about anything to do with your electrical and/or data installations. If we can answer your question over the phone we shall, if we need to have a look at the query in person, we will arrange a site survey as soon as possible.

- Water in or around an electrical component, either inside or outside

It is never wrong to want a professional opinion on anything electrical, especially considering the potential risks to health and safety if an installation is not working correctly or has a fault.
Looking into a potential fault and rectifying this could make the installation more efficient, therefore saving you money. More importantly, looking into and fixing faults can save lives.
